Shri Krishna Bala-Lila Madhuri
The Special Sweetness of Shri Krishna's Childhood Pastimes

chalana lage, thumuki thumuki nandalala
Nandalala has just began to toddle.

thare hota paga dvaika chalata puni, giri giri parata gopala
He stands up by Himself and takes a few hesitant steps, but falls down again and again.

puni ghuturuvani gavani taham pahumchata, jaham dehari vishala
Giving up, He starts crawling again until He reaches the threshold of the main door, which is like an insurmountable obstacle for Him.

kara-pada-udara sabai chhala bala kari, lamghana chaha tatakala
Using His little hands, feet and stomach He makes all possible efforts to cross it quickly, but fails.

lamghi na sakeu machayeu rodana, daurim matu behala
When He starts crying, Mother Yashoda comes running to her little Child.

banka-bhrikuti jehi pralaya soi kara, lila bala rasala
He, who can annihilate countless universes by a mere flicker of His eyebrow, is engaged in infinitely sweet childhood pastimes.

jani ravahim mero lala kala him, deharihim deum nikala
Mother Yashoda is reassuring Him, "Do not cry my little Darling! I will have the threshold removed tomorrow."

imi 'kripalu' kahi hari dularavati, deharihim tarati tala
Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj says, "Caressing her little Child, Mother Yashoda pretends to hit the threshold in order to pacify Him."
